Let’s celebrate the high street!

I can’t have favourites really, but I simply adore our colour your own high street kits! It combines so many different elements, it’s a sustainable craft which you can personalise, it’s simple, beautiful, promotes role play and celebrates our wonderful highstreet and all that it brings us.

In each set you get 8 colouring card stands to create your very own shops. You can add our fabulous colouring pencils to the box if you wish, or you can use whatever you have to hand. Then once coloured, the standing shops can be used as a backdrop to recreate day to day scenes from our own high streets. You can add your own tiny toys, figures or make things, there are so many possibilities!

My youngest daughter had all kinds of fun recreating going into the sweet shop, and discussing which cakes and treats we’d be getting from the bakers (girl after my own heart!). As you may have seen on our instagram Slyvanians look so sweet with these sets, but also lego figures, our creatures in a tin, hatchimals and brio trains all work beautifully. I love how using these little kits means that anywhere can become a play scene, I found them tucked into the books in the bookcase the other day and it was so sweet!

While my eldest loved making little animations and using the high street as a vibrant back drop! She enjoyed changing up the seasons in the scenes, adding some twinkly fairy lights and a bobbly blanket for Christmas, and some greenery foraged from the garden to make the gardening shop truly authentic!

After the awful year our high streets have had, this kit is a fantastic way to teach our children the value of ‘shop small’ and ‘shop local!’
I’m sure we’ll be experimenting lots more with our role play with these sets lots more in the future, so I’ll keep you updated with our adventures!
