Let's Craft Our Way to Happy Minds: Children's Mental Health Week

Let's Craft Our Way to Happy Minds: Children's Mental Health Week

This week is extra special because it's Children's Mental Health Week! 🎉 It's a time to think about our feelings, our thoughts, and how we can make our minds feel super happy and healthy. And guess what? We've got some awesome crafts lined up just for you to celebrate this fantastic week!

Craft 1: Worry Dolls

Have you ever had worries that you wished would just disappear? Well, now you can make your own Worry Dolls to help you with that! Before you go to bed, tell your worries to your Worry Dolls and tuck them under your pillow. They'll take care of those worries while you sleep, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day!

Craft 2: Mood Monsters

Let's start by making some adorable Mood Monsters! All you need are some colorful craft papers, googly eyes, glue, and your imagination. Think about different emotions like happiness, sadness, excitement, and calmness. Draw your monster's shape according to how you're feeling or how you want to feel. Are they big and friendly or small and shy? Decorate them with funny faces and patterns. You can even give them names! These monsters will remind you that it's okay to feel all sorts of emotions.

Craft 3: Gratitude Journals

Sometimes, it's easy to forget about all the wonderful things in our lives when we're feeling down. That's why we're making Gratitude Journals! Grab some blank notebooks or papers, markers, and stickers. Each day, write down three things you're grateful for. It could be something as simple as your favorite toy or a hug from a loved one. Decorate your journal with stickers and drawings to make it extra special. Whenever you're feeling a bit blue, flip through your journal and remind yourself of all the good things in your life.

Time to Talk Day – Thursday, 6 February 2025

On Time to Talk Day, we’re proud to join the nation in encouraging open conversations about mental health and emotions. This annual event is a vital opportunity for individuals and families to come together and talk about how they really feel, breaking down stigma and fostering understanding.

To mark this important day, we are shining a light on our Feelings Chart, a product designed to empower children to explore and express their emotions in a safe and meaningful way. Inspired by the enchanting print Feelings by Abel & the Label, this unique tool supports children in developing emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

Why Time to Talk Day Matters

Time to Talk Day reminds us all that mental health is just as important as physical health. For children, understanding and expressing their feelings is a vital part of their overall well-being. The Feelings Chart offers a simple yet powerful way to help them communicate their emotions, opening the door for meaningful conversations between children, parents, teachers, and caregivers.

As we mark this day, we invite families, schools, and communities to embrace the spirit of open communication. Let’s encourage children to talk about their emotions, and let’s listen with empathy and understanding.

Remember, it's important to take care of our minds just like we take care of our bodies. Doing crafts like these can help us express our feelings, reduce stress, and boost our mood. So let's get crafting and celebrate Children's Mental Health Week in style!

Stay crafty and keep smiling! 😊✨
