Introducing our gorgeous new jumbo watercolour pencil boxes. They’re the perfect chunky size for little hands, & such a wonderfully mess free alternative to getting the paints out! I love these for travel, as they feel like so much more of an activity than simply getting out a box of crayons and they’re so wonderfully versatile. For blending colours you can layer up & then wash over with a wet brush, or for bright vivid colours you can dip the pencil directly into water.
We’ve been taking lots of our activities outside on these lovely warm days & the pencils have been a fantastic thing to take on our park trips, along with these fabulous colouring postcards - we’ve been writing these to send to friends to get in a sneaky bit of handwriting practice in too!
Our new wrapping paper has also been a firm favourite in recent weeks, not only will the designs keep the kids busy for a long time, but getting kids involved in making the wrapping paper for a present really gives them more ownership over it & will make them so proud to hand over their colourful creation. Is this not the best wrapped present ever?
With summer blooms still in full force, we’ve also taken to doing drawings of our pickings whilst out and about (anyone else always end up with dying flowers squished in the bottom of their handbag?!) & I am loving the bright bursting pops of yellow from the dandelions and pretty blue borage flowers. It’s really nice to do little drawings and show the kids the difference between using the pencils lightly without water & then smudging them with the water to get looser more expressive marks.
I must admit I have actually been enjoying using the pencils myself - doodling is one of my favourite ways to wind down & I just love the intensity of these colours when dipped in water. I love doing something creative that we can all enjoy and these pencils have given us so much fun already, I would definitely recommend a little expressive doodle with them daily!
