Celebrate Spring with 'Bunnies & Blooms': Fun & Free Easter Crafts 🐰🌼

Celebrate Spring with 'Bunnies & Blooms': Fun & Free Easter Crafts 🐰🌼

Spring is in the air, and that means it's time for some delightful Easter crafting! Welcome toĀ 'Bunnies & Blooms', a series full of eggs & flowers, bunnies & chicks, and all things pastel-coloured & beyond. Whether you're crafting with kids or simply looking for some seasonal inspiration, these ideas are sure to bring a little Easter magic to your home. Let's dive into our free Easter craft ideas!

Our first craft takes inspiration from freehand circle drawing, transforming those shapes into the sweetest little Easter chicks! This is a fun and accessible craft for kids and makes an adorable greeting card decoration.

A few tips:

  • If freehand circles aren’t your thing, try drawing around a circular object or using a compass.

  • Origami paper works beautifully for this craft, but for easier gluing, consider using card instead.

  • Avoid PVA glue with origami paper—it can be tricky! Double-sided tape works better but can be a bit fiddly for younger crafters.

Once you've got your chicks assembled, simply stick them onto a greetings card base and add some personal touches. Simple, cute, and perfect for Easter!

For our second craft, we're playing around with wooden beads, pastel colours, and pipe cleaners to create a charming Easter egg decoration! The pipe cleaner acts as the perfect framework to hold everything in place.

A few tips:

  • When threading the beads, leave enough excess pipe cleaner so you can loop the ends back through the opposite direction to secure the shape.

  • Once secured, trim the excess pipe cleaner for a neat finish.

  • To hang your decoration, use simple thread or go for something extra special like a velvet ribbon for added charm!

  • You can spell out fun Easter words like Hoppy, Spring, Easter, Bunny, or Joy using mini letter beads for a personalised touch.

This makes a lovely decoration to hang around the house or add to an Easter gift basket!

This craft is a fun and tactile activity for kids, creating a hanging Easter chick that’s perfect for decorating your Easter tree!

A few tips:

  • Use an egg-shaped craft punch to form the chick’s body—these punches make crafting quick and easy!

  • Set up the hanging loop first by taping wool onto the back of the egg.

  • Apply PVA glue and double-sided tape before starting the wool wrapping—this helps hold everything in place.

  • Once wrapped, tuck an end under one of the loops, knot it into position, and trim off any excess.

  • Finish off by cutting a beak and feet from orange card, sticking them on, and adding googly eyes for a bit of character!

And there you have it—your own little Easter chick, ready to be hung up and admired! šŸ„šŸ’›

Easter Egg Hunts are a classic, but if you’re looking for a way to make the hunt stress-free and fair, these handmade prize packets are a great solution! They allow you to control how many treats each child receives while adding a stylish touch to your Easter celebration.

A few tips:

  • Use a guillotine to cut 15 x 9 cm rectangles from pretty wrapping paper that screams Spring & Easter Egg Hunts.

  • Apply double-sided tape or glue to two long edges and one short edge.

  • Roll the paper into a cylinder, then seal one end.

  • Add your treats inside—chocolate eggs work well, but choose a treat that suits your Easter gathering.

  • Seal the opposite end in the opposite direction to create a unique fortune cookie-style packet.

  • Use pinking shears for a fun zigzag edge to finish off the design beautifully.

Place them in a basket for a stylish display, or hide them in the garden for the ultimate egg hunt excitement! 🪔🌸

This craft is a creative and stylish way to make textured, wool-filled greeting cards! The technique is super effective and great for improving kids' dexterity. Plus, you can experiment with different shapes and colours for endless variations!

A few tips:

  • Start by drawing your chosen shape onto a card base, then carefully cut it out using scissors. A Japanese hole punch can be handy to create an entry point for cutting.

  • Cut a second piece of card to fit inside the cutout. Use this piece as a guide by tracing the shape to determine how much wool will be needed.

  • Wrap the wool around a card to cut equal sections. Line the edges of the inside card with double-sided tape, then press the wool strips into place.

  • Once all the wool is set, trim any excess and secure everything with extra tape or glue for durability. Try experimenting with striped wool patterns, colour mixing, or even alternating colours for a fun and unique effect!

This is a great craft for kids, as laying down wool onto sticky edges helps develop their fine motor skills. Plus, the final result is a beautiful, textured card that’s both handmade and stylish!

Create a bright and cheerful Easter bouquet that will last all season! This craft is a fun way to bring spring indoors while letting kids explore their creativity.

A few tips:

  • Fold a piece of card in half and cut multiple slits from the folded edge. Once done, add double-sided tape to one edge and stick the other edge down.

  • Roll the card into a cylinder shape, securing it with more tape. This will form the base of the bouquet.

  • Place the rolled-up card into a paper cup, creating a sturdy foundation for decorating.

  • Use hole punches to cut out fun spring shapes—think chicks, butterflies, rabbits, leaves, and lucky clovers in different colours! Stick these onto the base using PVA glue for a bright and layered effect.

  • Once finished, place your everlasting bouquet on a shelf or surface for everyone to admire!

This craft is perfect for kids as they’ll love sticking and arranging the decorations to create their own unique spring scene. A fun and creative way to celebrate Easter!

After trying a few tie-dye ideas (and quickly realising the mess wasn't worth it!), I landed on this low-mess, high-impact paper collage egg craft—and it's such a pretty one! Here's how to make your own:

A few tips:

  • Boil the eggs first (unlike me!). It’ll make crafting much easier and less, well... runny.
  • Use origami paper with your hole punches. I tried tissue paper, but it tends to clog the punches and causes frustration. Trust me—origami paper is a game-changer!
  • Use clear glue to coat sections of the egg, then begin sticking your paper shapes on. Be sure to layer glue over the top of each shape too to help it set smoothly.
  • Prop the egg in an egg cup and tackle one side at a time. Holding the egg while gluing can get messy fast, especially as your fingers become stickier and stickier.

This makes a great weekend craft or activity to kick off the Easter holidays. Once decorated, the eggs look adorable in a bowl, or if you leave them unboiled, they could even be served up as the prettiest dippy eggs! šŸ„ššŸ’

We know sunflowers don’t bloom until later in the year—but why wait? This cheerful sunflower craft is all about bringing a little sunshine into your home, no matter the season!

A few tips:

  • Start by cutting out two circles from kraft or brown card—one should be about two-thirds the size of the other.
  • Cut lots of strips from yellow origami paper to use as petals.
  • Apply glue around the outer edge of the larger circle, then fold your yellow strips (as shown in the video) and stick them around the edge to form the first layer of petals.
  • Add another ring of glue and repeat the process around the inner edge of the circle for a fuller flower.
  • On the smaller circle, draw a pattern to represent the sunflower seeds and glue it in the centre.
  • Finally, attach a paper straw and some origami leaves to complete your sunny bloom! šŸƒ

This is a bright, feel-good craft for kids and a great way to bring a touch of summer to your Easter creations.

Inspired by one of our most popular shop decorations, this adorable DIY lamb craft is a brilliant way to get crafty at home this Easter—and it's just as cute as the original!

A few tips:

  • Start with a wooden ring and wrap it generously with white wool. No wooden ring? No problem! You can also cut a cardboard circle with a hole in the middle—it works just as well.

  • For the legs, snap mini lolly sticks in half and glue them to the back of the wool-wrapped ring. Be sure to tidy up any rough ends to avoid splinters.

  • Add a face with ears and candy eyes (or drawn-on eyes if you prefer to avoid plastics). I used Posca pens to add extra details and bring the little lamb to life.

This craft is such a fun one for kids and makes a sweet addition to your Easter display. šŸ‘

If you’re as obsessed with hole punches as I am, this one will be a breeze! These adorable heart-shaped flowers are easy to make and perfect for spring or Easter displays.

A few tips:

  • Use heart-shaped hole punches to create petals—super easy if you’ve already got a stash of punches like me!

  • Origami paper works beautifully here thanks to its bright colours and lightweight texture.

  • Stick the petals together using double-sided tape, which is much neater than glue (especially since glue can soak through thin paper).

  • Flatten a paper straw to use as a stem—it holds everything together nicely and adds a cute touch to the overall look.

This craft is quick, cheerful, and a lovely one to do with kids.

This is the ultimate Easter holiday activity—a perfect blend of crafting and growing that kids absolutely love! Using an old egg box and some wheatgrass seeds, you can create a mini garden full of personality and springtime charm.

A few tips:

  • You can paint the egg box before planting, but in hindsight, it might be best to paint the lid after the grass has grown. Watering the seeds can dampen the cardboard, which might cause paint to spread or smudge.

  • Fill each section of the egg box with soil, then place wheatgrass seeds on top. Pop it in a sunny spot and make sure it gets plenty of daily water.

  • Once the grass is thriving, it’s time to decorate! I used card and mini lollipop sticks for most of the decorations, but you can use standard sticks too. The options are endless—think sunshine, clouds, Easter pom-pom creatures, or even little bugs.

  • The best part? Kids love giving the grass a haircut! It’s a brilliant way to keep them engaged as they watch their mini garden grow.

Set-up is quick, and the rewards are long-lasting. If you're short on time, we also sell ready-made Easter gardens—just sayin’! šŸŒ±šŸ’š

If you're looking for a stress-free Easter bonnet craft, this one’s for you! It’s a quick, cheerful option that still looks super sweet—especially with its daisy chain twist. We’re a little obsessed with daisy chains here at Cotton Twist!

A few tips:

  • Any hat will do! I used one we had hanging on the wall. You don’t need anything fancy.

  • Use mini cupcake cases for the daisies—though larger ones or a mix of sizes would also work beautifully.

  • Flatten the cases and colour the centres yellow (I used our Cotton Twist watercolour pencils).

  • Grab your scissors and snip out petal shapes. This part needs a bit of dexterity, but it’s fun and rewarding!

  • For the hat band, either use a ribbon and glue the daisies on (a glue gun works well), or—as I did—secure a band of green card around the hat and attach the daisies to that.

You can easily make one in 10 minutes if you’re short on time. If the kids are making their own, allow a little longer for crafting fun!

I absolutely love a stripe (you might spot a few in my home šŸ˜‰), so I decided to bring that pattern to an Easter egg! This simple but striking design is a great way to add colour and texture to your decorations.

A few tips:

  • Use multicoloured pipe cleaners to create single stripes, or make them chunkier by grouping colours together in blocks.

  • You can stick the pipe cleaners in straight lines or make them slightly wonky for a fun and quirky look.

  • PVA glue works well to hold everything in place, but a bit of double-sided tape can add extra strength if needed.

  • For safety and ease—especially with kids—it's best to boil the eggs first, even if I didn’t!

A quick and colourful project that’s perfect for getting creative with the kids ā™„ļøšŸ§”šŸ’›šŸ’ššŸ©·

I love using my @sculpdit air-dry clay, and with Easter on the way, I decided to play around with a few ideas for decorating an Easter tree. The sky’s the limit with clay crafts, but for this one, I went with letters and a polka dot theme—and I love how it turned out!

A few tips:

  • Roll out your air-dry clay and use a cutter to shape your eggs. Don’t forget to create a hole at the top for hanging!

  • Use letter stamps (I used mine from Lakeland) to press in words or names.

  • For polka dots, the end of a wooden dowel works brilliantly.

  • Once dry, wash over the egg with a base colour (I used cream), then paint the indented dots in pastel shades for a springtime finish.

  • Thread a piece of ribbon through the top hole and let everything dry completely.

A lovely craft project for kids to enjoy during the Easter holidays, and perfect for brightening up your Easter tree!Ā  ā™„ļøšŸ§”šŸ’›šŸ’ššŸ©·

I decided to roll out my sunflower craft again—it's such a fun one to have up your sleeve for the Easter holidays! A bright and tactile way to get the kids crafting.

A few tips:

  • I used some @sculpdit clay to press the seeds into, but PVA glue or even play dough will work just as well.

  • While it may seem unusual, I opted for pumpkin seeds over sunflower seeds—they're bigger and offer a nice contrast against the pasta petals.

  • Once the seed-filled centre is done, glue down fusilli pasta around the edge to form your sunflower petals.

  • For the stalk, I flattened a paper straw and glued it down, then added some cardboard leaves tucked underneath to finish it off.

Simple, creative, and a perfect burst of sunshine for any Easter display! 🌻

I’ve decided to give the humble paperclip a seasonal makeover—and this little bunny craft is the result! Super simple and full of charm, these are perfect as bookmarks, Easter card accessories, or even to clip onto Easter Egg hunt clues!

A few tips:

  • Make sure to hook the pipe cleaner into the correct end of the paperclip (check out the reel for the demo!).

  • Use a long length of pipe cleaner. Once twisted and the bead is in place, cut and tuck the ends back through to form the bunny ears.

  • Draw a face onto the bead, and your bunny paperclip is ready to hop into action!

A fun, no-fuss craft for the kids this Easter break—and a perfect excuse to start early on all the fun! šŸ’”

This craft might just be one of my favourites—it's simple, low mess, and super effective. You can really personalise your Easter eggs with your favourite paper napkin designs!

A few tips:

  • Find some 2-ply paper napkins with designs you love—floral, bunnies, or even cartoon characters! A white background works best if you're decorating white eggs, as it helps the design blend in nicely.

  • Cut around the images you want to use, then carefully peel off the lower ply so you're left with just the patterned top layer. Do this after cutting for easier handling.

  • Using clear glue or mod podge, brush a layer onto the egg where you want to place the image. Stick it down, then gently brush glue over the top to seal it.

  • Balance the eggs in a container and let them air dry. A sunny spot helps speed up the process!

These delicate eggs look beautiful grouped in a bowl or displayed for Easter—and it’s a lovely activity to enjoy with kids over the break.
