Welcome to Halloween Craft Series 🎃

Welcome to Halloween Craft Series 🎃

Hey crafty parents 👻

It’s that time of year again – the spooky season is upon us! Halloween is creeping closer, and if you’re like me, you’re probably already thinking about how to make this holiday extra special for your kids. This year, I’m launching my Halloween series, filled with crafty, plastic-free ideas that are not only fun but also eco-friendly!

As a parent, you want to create memories that will last forever – and there’s no better way to do that than by sitting down with your kids and creating something together. Whether your little ones love messy glue and glitter or prefer tasty treats they can make with their hands, I’ve got you covered with plenty of ideas that will spark their creativity and bring out their inner artists.

Here are some easy, enjoyable crafts you and your kids can make together:

1. Spooky Ghost Decoration

I used some white cord, but you could also use wool. Oh & I always use sugary eyes as don't like the plastic goggly eyes on the market.

2. Creepy Pizza Decoration

Get your kids excited about cooking by making a Halloween-themed Spooky Spider Pizza! This tasty project is super easy, and your little ones will love decorating their pizza with edible "spiders" made from olives.

3. Budget Friendly Spider Web Decoration

We used bright orange origami paper, but you could just as easily cut any paper down to a square. And it could be any size too. Imagine a giant web against your window?

4. Oreo - Reese's Bats

These Oreo / Reese's bats 🦇 are super simple. I always have candy eyes in my baking drawer because they are so so useful. We used pre made icing to stick the eyes, but had some melted chocolate ready to attach the wings.

5. Spook Up the Strawberry

This one couldn't be simpler. You just need strawberries, white chocolate & a pen with edible ink. Make sure to leave the dipped strawberries in the fridge before you apply the pen as the chocolate needs to be hardened.

The kids will love to create these strawberries 🍓, plus it guarantees something fresh being inhaled at Halloween. And whilst the weather is a bit all over the place, I thought this was a neat craft / bake to bridge the Summer berry vibes with the Autumn & Halloween spook ....

6. Re roll the Toilet Roll

Re roll the toilet roll for this crafty Halloween decoration. It would be silly not to as it's as simple as it looks. Start saving those toilet rolls up now as I think this craft could look fab on repeat. Perhaps pop them at your windows, or on your path if it's not raining.

If you want to add a reusable tea light, there's a narrower fit version which works a treat as a standard tea light won't quite fit.

7. Easy Spooky Bat

Hopefully you've got a wooden washing peg lying around somewhere. Then for the paint, you can use our watercolour pencils if you don't have black paint at home. Maybe leave the peg to dry before attaching it to the cut black card 🤣... I used a cookie cutter to get the bat shape, & then I used candy eyes as they're plastic free.

8. Spooky Colouring

So colouring in is not just for paper & card...edible pens enable children to have fun colouring & decorating food too.
It was novel turning marshmallows & smarties into spooky eyeballs with these pens. Let the kids get creative with their designs.

9. Wrap the Mummies

It's time to wrap those mummies & get crafty with your Halloween decorations. This craft idea is fun & easy to execute. You don't need to stick to the white wool, just go with what you have. Goggly eyes 👀 always make the difference too. Experiment with popping these mummies around the house, maybe on a shelf or in your windows.

10. Savoury Spider Treats

Halloween doesn't have to be all about the sweet stuff...which is why we LOVE ❤️ this savoury spider 🕷️ activity / make.

You just need ritz crackers, cream cheese, straight pretzels, & the favourite candy eyes 👀 ❤️ ... save this for Halloween. A fun & simple activity for kids to do, & possibly even by themselves without any / much supervision dependent on age.

These activities aren’t just about making something cute for Halloween; they’re about spending quality time together as a family. The crafts are designed to be simple, mess-friendly, and perfect for little hands, while also teaching valuable lessons about creativity, sustainability, and working together.

Whether you're looking for an afternoon project or preparing for a weekend of Halloween fun, these free ideas are great for you and your kids to enjoy a plastic-free, crafty, and absolutely yummy Halloween.

Let’s make this Halloween one to remember – full of crafts, laughter, and most importantly, time spent together. 🎨👾
